Three Swedish nationals were each fined 8,000 Norwegian kroner by Norwegian authorities after throwing stones toward Russia from the Norwegian side of the border in Finnmark county.

Finnmark is Norway's northeasternmost county, sharing about 196 kilometres of border with Russia's Kola Peninsula. Border rules in the area are strictly enforced, and the stone-throwing was classified as a border violation.

Authorities applied border-control statutes in issuing the fines. The names of the three individuals and the reason for their visit have not been reported.
