インド・ウッタラーカンド州チャモリ県ダソリ郡のバンドワラ村で、村長(グラム・プラダン)選挙の最終集計が、138票ずつの同数になった。
州の選挙委員会の規則では、同数のときはコインを投げて決めることになっている。トスの結果、23歳のニティン・ネギが、対立候補のラヴィンドラを破って当選した。
同じ選挙では、隣のルドラプラヤーグ県グラム・カンディ村でも168票ずつの同数となり、こちらは紙くじで決まった。チャモリ県は、ヒマラヤの南の山あいにある。
In the village of Bandwara, in Dasoli block of Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, India, the final count in the village-headman (gram pradhan) election came out at 138 votes each.
Under the state election commission's rules, a tie is settled by tossing a coin. On the toss, Nitin Negi, aged twenty-three, beat his rival Ravindra.
In the same election, the neighbouring village of Gram Kandi, in Rudraprayag district, also tied — at 168 votes each — and was decided by drawing slips. Chamoli district lies in the hills south of the Himalayas.
