On 18 February 2025 the parish council of Chawton, in Hampshire in southern England, decided to hold a village litter-pick on 15 March.

On the day, people would gather at the village hall at 9.30 a.m., with coffee and biscuits afterwards. The clerk would arrange an extra rubbish collection and handle the website notice and an email to residents.

Chawton is known as the village where the writer Jane Austen spent the last eight years of her life. It lies about one and a half kilometres south-east of the nearby town of Alton.
