イタリア中部ラツィオ州、ティレニア海に面しチヴィタヴェッキアの近くにある町サンタ・マリネッラは、2025年4月30日の朝、ある決議を可決した。隣のチヴィタヴェッキアにあった「接吻像(スタトゥア・デル・バーチョ)」を、3年契約で借りるという内容である。

この像は、水兵が看護師に口づけする、よく知られた構図のものだ。チヴィタヴェッキアが、港の広場での貸借契約を更新しないと決めたことを受け、サンタ・マリネッラのピエトロ・ティデイ市長が強く誘致した。

Santa Marinella, a town on the Tyrrhenian coast of Lazio in central Italy, near Civitavecchia, passed a resolution on the morning of 30 April 2025. It will rent, for three years, the 'Statua del Bacio,' the Kiss statue, that had stood in neighbouring Civitavecchia.

The statue is of the familiar composition of a sailor kissing a nurse. After Civitavecchia decided not to renew the lease for its place in the harbour square, the mayor of Santa Marinella, Pietro Tidei, pushed hard to bring it over.

The resolution records that the agreement with the owner runs for three years, that the cost is twenty thousand euros, expected to be covered by private sponsors, and that the statue will be placed at the tourist marina. Santa Marinella is also known as the 'Pearl of the Tyrrhenian.'
