July 9, 2026 — A badger fled into a henhouse, and not a single feather flew.

In a Romanian village, a badger chased by stray dogs hid in a henhouse; the chickens stayed calm, and the owners caught it unharmed.

Magura, Bacau County, Romania

At a house in the village of Magura, in Romania's eastern Bacau county, a badger chased by stray dogs fled into a henhouse. The badger kept quiet among the chickens without thrashing about, and the chickens did not panic either. The owners did not rush; they waited for the animal to settle down, then captured it without harming it. The Bacau county office of the National Environmental Guard, which was called in, recorded what had happened and noted that while one might imagine feathers flying when a badger meets chickens, the footage showed the exact opposite. The badger was later released into the forest. The office urged residents to respond just as calmly when wild animals stray into settlements. There was no damage. The television channel Antena 1 reported it on July 9.
