ブラジル南部パラナ州のパト・ブランコ市議会は、2026年6月16日の臨時会で、市の動物一時収容施設(カーザ・ジ・パサージェン・アニマル)に「カン・オレーリャ」と名付ける条例案を、第二読会で可決した。議案番号は2026年第37号。
カン・オレーリャは、地域の住民がおよそ10年にわたって、自分たちの手で世話をしてきた地域犬だった。「オレーリャ」は、ポルトガル語で耳を意味する。
2026年1月4日、この犬は、隣のサンタカタリーナ州フロリアノポリスの北部、プライア・ブラーヴァ地区で棍棒に殴られ、傷が深く、安楽死させられた。
提案したのは、進歩党のチアニア・カミンスキ市議。施設に犬の名を付けることで、動物福祉の政策と、市民への呼びかけを強める狙いだと説明されている。賛否の票数は、記録に残されていない。
The municipal council of Pato Branco, in the southern Brazilian state of Paraná, gave second-reading approval on 16 June 2026, at an extraordinary session, to a bill naming the town's animal transit shelter, the Casa de Passagem Animal, after a dog called Cão Orelha. The measure is Bill No. 37 of 2026.
Cão Orelha was a community dog that residents had cared for, on their own initiative, for about ten years. "Orelha" is the Portuguese word for ear.
On 4 January 2026 the dog was beaten with a club in the Praia Brava district of Florianópolis, in the neighbouring state of Santa Catarina; the injuries were severe enough that it had to be put down.
The bill was proposed by councillor Thania Caminski, of the Progressistas party. Attaching the dog's name to the shelter, she said, was meant to strengthen the town's animal-welfare policy and its appeals to the public. The vote was not recorded.
