In Kabale, Uganda, the Catholic diocese published the names of 23 men due to be ordained in August and asked anyone aware of a canonical impediment to report it by July 31.

The Catholic Diocese of Kabale, in southwestern Uganda, has published the banns ahead of its 2026 ordinations. Canon 1043 of the Code of Canon Law states that if the faithful are aware of impediments to Sacred Orders, they are obliged to reveal them to the Ordinary or the parish priest before the ordination. Acting on this, the diocese instructed parish priests to publicly announce the candidates' intentions in their parishes.

In a statement dated June 30, 2026 and signed by the Bishop's Secretary, Rev. Fr. Placid Mugumya, the diocese asked anyone with information about a candidate's unsuitability to submit it to the Bishop's Office by July 31, 2026.

According to the statement, 13 deacons will be ordained to the priesthood on August 22, 2026, at Rushoroza Cathedral Parish. The same ceremony will see 10 seminarians ordained to the diaconate.

On August 2, two seminarians will be admitted as candidates for Major Orders, and 20 seminarians will be installed into the ministries of Lector and Acolyte at the same cathedral. The diocese closed its statement by praying for the candidates as they prepare for their ministries.
