In Hokitika, New Zealand, the Westland council recorded that the redundant concrete pillars from the seawall would be kept for some future project.

The Westland District Council, in New Zealand, on 28 August 2025, came to the concrete pillars in the course of a discussion about the seaside town of Hokitika.

The stabilising concrete pillars from Hokitika's seawall, now redundant, would be kept by the council for some future project.

This was not a separate item but a single line in the chief executive's report, within a discussion of whether to continue the Hokitika and Franz Josef joint committees past the election. Continuing them was carried.
