A Mekong Delta groom's coconut-leaf wedding path went viral in Vietnam

In Mỏ Cày commune, Vĩnh Long province in Vietnam's Mekong Delta, Huỳnh Hồng Phương (born 2000) married Mỹ Huyền on June 14, capping a 13-year relationship that began when they were seventh-grade classmates. For the occasion, Phương covered the roughly 100-meter village path leading to his house with nearly 40 arches built from coconut-tree trunks, nipa palm fronds, and decorative flowers, adding a photo backdrop woven from leaves and fresh flowers, string lights, and balloons. He said the idea came from seeing a gate made of coconut leaves at his uncle's wedding years earlier and thinking, "I want to do something like that myself someday." A team of 23 people helped build it, and even they were surprised by how beautiful the finished alley looked. Video of the decorated path racked up hundreds of thousands of views on Vietnamese social media.
