ガーナ東部州のアキエム・タフォで、伝統評議会が騒音禁止令を出した。禁止の対象は太鼓の演奏・拡声器の使用・野外行事で、期間は2週間。毎年恒例の祖先の儀式「オフム祭」の準備期間にあたる。
アキエム・タフォはアキエム・アブアクワ伝統国に属する町で、東部州の州都コフォリドゥアの北方にある。オフム祭はアキエム・アブアクワで最初に行われる伝統祭礼とされ、新ヤムイモの収穫解禁を告げる意味を持つ。
タフォの族長ダーセブレ・アドゥセイ・ピアサ4世が禁止令の責任者とされている。住民は禁止期間中、慣習を尊重して過度な騒音を控えるよう求められた。違反者への対応は発表の中で明示されていない。
The traditional council of Akyem Tafo in Ghana's Eastern Region proclaimed a two-week ban on noise-making in preparation for the annual ancestral ceremony known as the Ohum festival. The ban covers drumming, the use of loudspeakers, and outdoor events.
Akyem Tafo is a town in the Akyem Abuakwa traditional state, north of Koforidua, the regional capital. The Ohum festival is recognised as the first traditional ceremony observed in Akyem Abuakwa and marks the start of the season for eating the new yam.
Daasebre Adusei Piasah IV, the Tafo chief, is the authority behind the proclamation. Residents were asked to observe the customs by refraining from excessive noise during the period. The announcement did not specify penalties for violations.
